About the House
Founded by Christian Dior in Paris in 1946 and launched with the 1947 'New Look' collection — the cinched waist, the calf-length full skirt — which reset post-war women's silhouettes. Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré and John Galliano followed; Raf Simons modernised the codes in the 2010s; Maria Grazia Chiuri leads women's since 2016, Kim Jones men's since 2018, Jonathan Anderson men's since 2025. Owned by LVMH. The Lady Dior bag (1995), Saddle bag (2000, reissued 2018), and Book Tote (2017) are the house's commercial anchors.
Markdown Pattern
Dior follows a Louis Vuitton-adjacent discipline — no discounts on Lady Dior, Saddle, Book Tote, jewellery, watches or fragrance through any channel. Ready-to-wear, shoes and small leather goods appear on sale during the twice-yearly designer markdown at Saks, Bergdorf, Mytheresa and Net-a-Porter — 30-40% in the first wave (late June, late December), 50% in the second wave (mid-July, mid-January). Yoox carries past-season ready-to-wear and accessories at 60% off but rarely the bag icons.
Authentication
Authentic Dior bags carry a small leather tab inside stamped 'Christian Dior Paris Made in Italy' (or France for older pieces) with the lettering crisp, never blurred. The serial is laser-etched on a separate metal plate or stamped into a hidden interior leather strip. Lady Dior cannage stitching is even at six stitches per quilted square. D.I.O.R. charm letters on the strap are solid metal — counterfeit charms ring hollow. The Saddle bag's hardware is heavy and the magnetic closure pulls firmly.
Timing
Mid-July and mid-January are the deepest authorised markdown windows for ready-to-wear and shoes — 50% off. Pre-collection in October and April is full-price by design. For Lady Dior and Saddle bags the buying moment is the secondary market in late winter, when collectors trade up to spring colourways and pre-loved pieces broaden in selection. Direct boutique allocation on limited Lady Dior editions requires a sales relationship similar to Hermès.
Dior controls pricing tightly across icon bags (Lady Dior, Saddle, Book Tote) and rarely runs verified discounts on those silhouettes through authorized retailers. Where markdowns do appear: shoes, accessories, ready-to-wear from prior seasons. Resale retention on icon Lady Dior in lambskin runs 70–90% of retail in good condition.
Archive Luxury monitors Dior pricing across all 33 of our authorized retailers continuously. When verified discounts appear, every listing passes our three-gate verification pipeline: source authorization (no grey-market sellers), real price-history validation against a named source field on the retailer's product feed, and editorial review for category fit and urgency. Set a price alert below to be notified the moment a new verified Dior deal goes live, including discount depth and matching size availability.
Legendary Parisian house founded in 1946. The New Look silhouette, the Saddle bag, and Book Tote. High fashion at its most iconic. For Dior specifically, the most reliable verified-discount channels are the major US department stores (Saks, Bergdorf, Neiman, Nordstrom) plus the contemporary-luxury platforms (Mytheresa, Net-a-Porter, SSENSE) — each runs predictable seasonal markdowns on previous-season inventory and operates at the authorized-retailer tier. International DDP retailers (Mytheresa US, THE OUTNET, YOOX, Cettire) absorb US import duties so the displayed USD price is what you actually pay. The narrow set of retailers Archive Luxury surfaces Dior from is deliberately constrained to authorized and verified channels — we'd rather publish a smaller list of real deals than a larger list with inflated comparisons or customs surprises.
