About the House
Founded in Milan in 1913 by Mario Prada as a leather goods house — the Fratelli Prada storefront in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II remains active. Miuccia Prada took control in 1978 and, with Patrizio Bertelli, transformed the house in the 1980s with the Pocone nylon backpack (1984), which made industrial fabric a luxury material. Raf Simons joined as co-creative director in 2020. Prada owns Miu Miu, Church's and Car Shoe; the group also acquired Versace in 2025.
